I'm so emo

new members

I've been noticing recently, I'm not sure if it's been like this for a long time or what.

It says there are 16 active members on the boards, and 130 some guests, and out of the 16 members on the boards I recognize about 3-5 at any given time.

So I click on the ones I don't recognize and a lot of them are spammers, cause if you click there name it brings up there profile and in that profile there soliciting pills, and all sorts of online advertising which is spam.

I'm just wondering what the point of signing up a fake acct for spam if your not going to use it and post.

::EDIT:: I'm sure some do try and post there spam, but wouldn't they try and get past the mod queue and get there 10 post and then spam?

Maybe they do post but since the first 10 posts go into a moderation queue you never see them.

I doubt they are aware there is a moderation queue. The registrations are made by bots which probably register on every forum they can find. Unless the spammer actually visits this forum, notices the moderation queue and adjusts the bot behaviour to post 11 times instead of just 1 or 2 then it's not gonna happen.

He's quite mad you know.

^^ correct. I personally delete up to a dozen accounts a day as well as deleting at least a dozen posts a day from the mod queue as they are all spam.

I'm sure the other mods delete just as many posts when they're active.

If I get time, I also review the last few days new accounts, check their mail domains and IP addresses and if they have some form of commonality then I'll ban an entire domain or subnet (as long as it doesn't screw with legit accounts).
