You mean v8? I hacked it into my TomTom One and it's definitely an improvement. The lane navigation is very useful on motorways you're not familiar with, but the better part is the IQ routes - every time I've used it I've been sent down roads with absolutely no traffic on them, it's like having a private route to yourself.

That said sometimes that will be because the roads are so fucking narrow nobody else would dare try to go down them, but that's okay if you don't mind playing chicken.

As a hack it's not perfect, a couple of buttons may be blanked out if you don't have the hardware to support them (such as voice commands), but once you get the maps in the right place, fix the voices, and sort out the postoce search (it defaults to only allowing the first half of the postcode) it works perfectly.

I do find that my battery disappears overnight when it's turned off and unplugged though, and sometimes will reboot itself when connected to the PC - but that's a minor issue.

Cheers for the info mate yeh it's the V8 i have and wasn't sure about it but i'll shove it onto my memory card and pit it into the tomtom 500 and see if it works as i have heard mixed results on it with hanging on the booting up process and having to do a hard reset to turn it off

Thanks for the info though

There are lots of threads on it over at ipmart, for all versions. Generally the issues with it rebooting/going into safe mode are for hardware versions that are too old to support it; but the 500 should be new enough for it to work.

In any case it goes without saying - back the fucker up before you try
