6,4M $/Day baby !

5 days

5 days till LOTR: TTT hits the big screen and i havent seen one publicity on the tube

i know they dont really need to advertise to make it a success but still i figured i would get sick of watching the preview to the movie on tv but i havent seen it

i havent even seen any trailers or teasers or whatever (i know i can get em on the net i just chose not to take a peek)

has anyone else noticed this or am i just missing the previews ?

I have only seen one trailer for it on T.V., and only one special. I guess that the did all the LOTR background specials last year, and just don't have any more ideas. And with as big as this movie is going to be, why waste any money on advertising?

Don't watch much TV (ok - I watch sports)... But have seen several trailers on the tube for the movie and the Game, which is bascially a trailer for the movie...
And I too can hardly wait, even have a free ticket waiting for me from buying (gasp!) the extended DVD LOTR.

Selling 'Rings' is whole new quest
5 December 2002 (The Hollywood Reporter)
With the astounding success last year of the first installment in its The Lord of the Rings trilogy, New Line Cinema learned many things about the franchise that helped the studio develop an unconventional marketing plan for The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, which opens Dec. 18. For one, the franchise has a solid fan base far beyond the realm of its core sci-fi/fantasy audience, and thus New Line didn't need to launch a TV campaign two months before the release date of the new film. And just as significantly, New Line execs realized that there are no Whoppers in Middle Earth. So this time around, the company has passed on a fast-food tie-in with Burger King in favor of a two-year promotional deal with Verizon Wireless. "Probably 150 million people have seen this movie worldwide; I think we're covered for the first couple of weeks (of the new release)," Russell Schwartz, president of domestic theatrical marketing at New Line, said with a laugh. Indeed, last year's Oscar-nominated The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring grossed more than $860 million worldwide, putting it among the top 10 boxoffice hits ever in the United States and in the top five internationally.

Crazy Theatre Seal

I am kind of sad. As some of you know I’m a manager at a movie theatre, and a new theatre (owned by the same company, REG) just moved in across the street. Due to zoning restrictions or some such nonsense we cant have the same prints as them.. and guess who gets the TTT? They've had one of their five prints for over 2 weeks now, and if I had transferred over i would have been able to see it a while back. But whatever, I’m over it. Now we got cronies like Philip Anschutz and big corporate big wigs floating around the theatre as they're catching a sneak peak as well. I guess I’ll just have to wait until it comes out and actually *gasp pay for a show.

Edit: just realized this has no connection what-so-ever to the post.. sorry for my ranting, time for sleep.
