Another more important movie than was given credit
I believe that the reason that this movie did not make the big screen is because it is somewhat untimely. As time goes on I believe that the war in Yugoslavia will get more and more unpopular. Since it has come to light that the KLA (Kosovo Liberation Army - CIA backed) has been moving the herion out of Afganistan and into the USA. Therefore, the herion explosion here in the USA. Not to mention that the Muslims came into the region during the Ottoman empire period which was about 1500 years after the Jewish people got thrown out of Palestine. The Serbs probably had every right to want the muslims out of their county. Also, if we compared Milosovec to Sadam in terms of genocide, he would come up very short. Especially since the muslims there joined and fought with Hitler. In fact, they joined the SS in greater frequency than the Germans did and Hitler was of Albanian ancestry as well as part Jewish. They bragged recently in their newspapers that they were proud of the ethnic cleansing that they performed during WWII when they killed hundreds of thousands of Serbian men, women and children. However, the movie, while it had technical foul ups was overall quite pleasing and probably a great deal more truth to it than it may seem. I would not doubt that something like it happened. I have many freinds that were in the military in Serbia and they absolutely dont want to talk about it. I know them well enough to know that something is rotten in Denmark for sure. I don't know if the comments the political prisoner made were timely in this day about there always being another way besides war at this time. One must treat a fool according to their folly. Freedom has always come at a price. It did in 1776 too when only 20% of Americans wanted independence. Pacify a bully in grade school and you will not remedy the problem, only make it worse. The same could be said today except that more people are well informed and know that freedom comes at a price. So, overall this was a good movie. Sure it could have had more insight and more character development but, would it have been accurate. Only time will tell, if the dark secrets ever come out and if one keeps in perspective what would have happened if the Serbs instead of being Christian had been of Jewish descent - how different that war would have been. The quality of this movie is good. A little jumpy at times but good.
