Big Sexy - Another World (2003) - 2x12" Single/Mixes Vinyl.

Since the dawn of time, man has had a desire to be cool. To show off. To impress. Coolness is a part of the staple diet of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Average. Plate records are cool. Deeply cool. And this is one of the newest releases to emerge from their stables.

Those of you familiar with Mr. Yost. Kevin Yost. Will no doubt have heard his activities on ! and Naked and here he is, present again on these 2 sweet slices of vinyl cookie. If you like your house deep and dramatic, your going to love this. In fact, even if you are not a fan of house music, every person from every walk of life will appreciate this release. It's deep, it's jazzy and ultra trancey, perfect for electro connosieurs, or the smoking and head-nodding crew.

This track has been around a while now, but these are fresh and exciting mixes. We start with a straight, followed by a dub mix by STP. The STP 'out there' mixes. The first track (the normal remix), is my personal fave out of the 8 present. It conjure's up great tension and atmosphere. Like a deep, aquatic realm, a lakeside view by moonlight or even a spooky, creepy realm where you play the part of the lost soul, searching for your way out back to reality. The mix certainly is out there. It's deeply hipnotic and perfect for smoking extra fat one's too. On top of that, all you guys n girls out there who drive a car with a LOUD stereo will love this. You don't have to get this release. Fuck no. You NEED to get this release.

The STP dub is good, same as above with minor changes, although i still prefer the normal remix. Next up are two remixes by Hanna. Well, the second is the same remix, just an instrumental version. I'm not too keen on these mixes. It's a bit too, i dunno i can't really describe it. But after the STP mixes you kind of feel that the Hanna mixes don't justify the original track.

Next is the 'Passport Mix', again very similar to the Hanna mixes but with more of a world fusion feel to it. Again, i'm not keen on this mix either or the 'Hectic World' mix either. They have a similar vibe and just don't bring any sense of flow or feel to the track.

Then comes the big one, the Yost mix. This track is the killer, this is the one i heard so long ago. Like the STP mix, it's deep and hypnotic and like the Werthers, uncommonly good! The release finishes off with a downtempo 'Smack' remix which is ok, but again, i wasn't keen on it and found myself neglecting it from the rest after one listen.

Overall, this is an average package of mixes of a great song. But worth getting just for the STP and Yost mixes. No DJ should be without them. No stoner should be without them. YOU shouldn't be without them.
