For those unfamiliar with Sense Field they are what EMO should bow down to. Bands like Dashboard Confessional cant come close to the passion and heart of Sense Field.On with the review..

Sense Field last graced us with an album was in 2001 with their second major label album "Tonight and Forever" (first was the 1996 Building LP). That album had songs that were featured on Dawsons Creek, Smallville and a couple others so you might recognize the name.

2003 has brought us the most mature album of Sense Field's 10 year + career. The album is set for release on July 22nd in the US and is likely to make a big splash if its given the right amount of airplay. Jon Bunch, lead vocalist, has written the most beautiful songs over the past 10 years and this album is no different. Songs like the opening song "Burn" set the tone for the album. A song which starts encaptures the essence of Sense Field..emo with a soul not just a tissue box. Quickly followed by one of my favorite songs on this album "Running Behind". One of the best surprises of this album comes at the tenth track where we find Sense Field's beautifully done cover of The Cure's "A Letter to Elise" which is a true surprise and a welcome one at that. This is one album that I'd say if you like good vocals, great melody and a love for music you should pick this one up

i saw Chris from dash ... years before he was in dash... i think he was in Five Flew Over.. or hrm... i think thats right anyhow... when he first played as Dashboard Confessionals.. i witnissed some of the finest guys in hardcore.... stand still and listen and make contact w/ their inner puss... ( i mean... as an opener at a 4 band show... w/ the likes of Strike Anywhere... he had a tough crowd).. but we all took it for what it was and respected what he was doing.

fast forward to 2 or 3 years later.. and everyone listening to EMO... and there all EMO-tastic.. and emo-rifficly fagdacious

the scene around me has been torn to pieces by an increasingly solid influx of em0-tards.. its been a self-fullfilling prophecy.... the words first originated as kids were callin it emotional music.. but i repeat it was NEVER mentioned as a genre of music.. only within the last few years has it become whats its been talked up to be..


now uve got decent bands like Saves The Day... and TGUK.. turning uber-pussy ... i cant stand it... and as for Chris of Dash.... ever since i saw him on MTV w/ a bunch of fuck-tard county suburban kiddies singin along ive decided he has no WANG.

his old shit has merit... but now that its been branded EMO i cant be seen listenin to it or i may pee myself in shame.

why must there be these genres? music is music ... and EMO is talked about as if a band sets out to BE EMO.. that is rediculous.. and sadly no one seems to stop and think about it... they just listen and cry

ok im a lil biased.. but ive watched a legitimate international punk/hardcore scene.. get reduced to rubble as kids decked out in emo gear start comin to shows.. not dancing.. just sittin like girls

Krazy..I am totally with you man..I've been into the hardcore/punk scene since the mid 80's. (yes I am 28)

I have a soft spot in my heart for bands like Sense Field, Texas is the Reason, Gameface (yeah they're more punk but hey) etc for being music that stands on its own..in its own "genre" I wasnt catagorizing Sense Field as emo..I was saying that emo bands WISH they had that much emotion and passion in their songs.

this was suppose to be a thread about a review of a great album..

and you wanna talk about the "scene"..man I've been in the scene probably before you even knew the words punk or hardcore were so as an elder statemen I will say what I want about the people in it. The new school kids in the scene are for the most part annoying. They have absolutely no idea what its all about..they just become punk or become hardcore or become sXe just because. sXe kids are very preachy for my taste and I dont like that. Do what you want but dont bring it into my world and call me an asshole for doing my thing. Now I see you are from NY so you SHOULD know the underground hardcore scene there is exactly that..hardcore..i respect those guys for believing and doing what they do but frankly..I highly doubt they have anything in common with your everyday suburban sXe kids who are cause someone told em too. In closing you came at 3 punk guys who I would stand by..pHo and krazy are true and they know their shit and of course I stand by myself who's been and seen it all in the "scene."
