Review: 2 Fast 2 Furious
I wasn't going to do a review for this movie, until I read a now closed thread that really pissed me off.
First thing's first, I had written a MUCH longer review just now, but a fucking collossal screwup wiped it out, so I'm going to write the lite version
To the dickhead who posted that flaming thread in the movie discussion forum: get your fucking facts straight before you trash something. Rob Cohen didn't direct the sequel, John Singleton did (However, I'm always up for Cohen bashing because of the abomination that was XXX). And since you wrote "...or something, I wasn't really paying attention" twice during your rant, that leads me to believe you either:
a) were jerking off while this movie played on your pc in the background, and you chose to flame it anyways out of sheer ignorance
or
b) you were too stupid to follow a routine Hollywood movie.
In either case, your valuable critique is something I'll have to try to ignore from now on.
Anyways, here is the much, much shorter version of my thoughts on the movie:
I loved it. I feel uncomfortable writing that as it reeks of the same ole shit, but it's too much fucking fun for me to say it sucks.
The script: bad, bad, bad. I wasn't expecting much out of it anyways.
The direction: VERY slick. The races were obviously cgi-ed in some parts, but it just made them seem more intense without looking phoney. John Singleton is a very gifted filmmaker, but he could have done a lot better with this movie.
The acting: This is the department where the film excels. Tyrese is a fantastic actor (Baby Boy is required viewing for anyone who doesn't believe me), and he takes the anger Vin Diesel had in the original, and adds a shitload of humour, you had to laugh when he torched that windshield.
I LOATHED Paul Walker in the original, his cop role is probably the most dumbest/unemotional/boring cop ever put to film. But since then, Walker aquired acting skills and showed them off in the underrated Joy Ride, and in 2 Fast, he does a lot better. While he had no scene-stealing charm like Tyrese, he does very well at following his lead and making them into a great duo.
Cole Hauser is a great actor, but is wasted in this stupid villain role, the character just did too many unbelievable things for me to be even remotely interested.
Eva Mendes just looked hot, her character should have been an intense one in an intense situation, but nah.
The rest of the actors were good too, nothing worth complaining about.
Yes, it IS routine. No, there is NOTHING original in this. But is it worth watching. Hell yeah. It's DEFINATELY not worth the massive flaming I've seen it get.
Note: People who see this movie on the big screen, and proceed to get into their little fucking Civics and start revving it up, screaming like maniacs, and screaming it across the parking lot at top speeds are NOT cool. You suck, your Civic sucks, get a life. Why can't people start flaming THOSE fucking assholes?
