Review: Live- Birds of Prey

Yes folks, Live are about to release their 6th album and I must say..this could be a perfect example of bands not quitting when their couple of years of fame are over. Birds of Prey makes no progression towards a new or modified sound.. instead it makes an effort to capture the bands earlier successes of albums Mental Jewelry and Throwing Copper..however it doesnt achieve this goal and just exsists on its own with some very enjoyable songs. A few rockers like "River Town", "Lighthouse" and "Bring the People Together" are Live at their hardest and keep the album upbeat, The ballads Live are known for, songs like "Run Away" and "What are We Fighting For" do not capture the passion that songs like "Lightning Crashes" from Throwing Copper or "Turn My Head" from Secret Samadhi but makes a valiant effort.
The single "Heaven" starts off with saying "You dont need no friends/Get back your faith again/You have the power to believe" well..you're right there Ed..you better hope and believe this album takes off the way it should cause the bands last album "V" tanked.

Rating 3 1/2 out of 5 Stars

Standout songs:

Heaven
Life Marches On
Lighthouse
River Town
Out To Dry

One time, my cousin Walter got this cat stuck in his ass. True story. He bought it at our local mall so the whole fiasco wound up on the news, it was embarrassing for my relatives and all, but the next week he did it again, different cat, same results, complete with another trip to the emergency room! So I run into him a week later in the mall and he’s buying another cat and I says to ‘em "Jesus Walt, what are you doing? You know your just gonna get this cat stuck up your ass too, why don’t you knock it off?" And he says to me "Brodie, how the hell else am I supposed to get the gerbil out?" My cousin was a weird guy....

Yeah sven you should definately pick this one up..Rolling Stone only gave it 2 stars but thats the worst review I've seen of it. Every other one I've seen is 3 stars or above

I really liked this album - the only thing that disappointed me about it was that it seemed that a lot of the songs sounded the same. I still prefer all their old stuff ten times to one, but all in all, a good album.
