Being a big fan of those marvellous techno jockey's du disc, Dave Clarke, Jeff Mills and Model 500, i believe it was through one of these fine gentlemen that i happened to stumble upon this glorious new E.P. from Akira Ishihara.

I know absolutely fuck all about this guy apart from the obvious nationality discretions. But what i will say is this is one fantastic 4 track E.P. which you would be insane to miss out on.

Starting with side A, we've got two tracks, the title track Under The Saya and quirky techno flubster track Crorepatie. The title track has an incredibly destructive sequence of snares and hi-hats held together with a powerful kickdrum. Very Tribal sounding but given a slightly housier vibe thanks to the dark synth stabs and hooks. Very good stuff indeed and sure to drive ravers wild on the floor.

Next up on side A is Crorepatie, this one i like even better because of it's deep throaty, industrial sounding bassline that, like our friend Godzilla, just destroys everything in it's path. And it's held up with sexy house hooks and synths and evil reversed samples to mess your head up truly. I like this one a lot, it's my 2nd favourite track on the E.P.

On the flip we've got 2 tracks, both with the same title. One is a remix. First up is Mass Culture (Johnny Flash Rework). This for me, is not as good as the original which follows, but it's still a good rework. The now accustomed kickdrum is there along with some funky sfx and techno bleeps. But overall it just feels slightly overshadowed by the original, which most remixes do. The original version is superb and is my favourite track on the E.P. A giant melting pot of bleeps and blops and banging drums that just make you want to move. Also featuring a splendid nagging vocal and nicely reverbed marimba's for the complete headfuck. You'll love this one!

All in all, a pretty good E.P., one weak track out of four isn't bad and well, you could do a lot worse. I don't think i'd recommend it for home listening but if your a DJ, you MUST have this in your box! GO FETCH!
