Divx Dvd Player!!!!!!!!

I have not seen any news about this in these forums so decided to tell you all. Sorry if its old news but....

If you point your browser over to kiss then you will find information on their divx dvd player!

Capable of playing divx 4.xx and 5.xx encoded videos, jpeg files etc this is one cool bit of hardware!

Well anyway, im sure this is going to start a trend with the next generation of dvd players, so only good things are to come from this.

Also i would not advise you to buy this dvd player, the first player in the new generation is going to have a lot of problems!

It is not only divx 4.xx and 5.xx and XviD that the KISS players can play... also 3.11

read here frpm their hp:
KiSS Technology Launches First DivX Certified DVD Players at CeBIT Trade Show
KiSS DP-450 and DP-500 Are First CE Devices to Play Back all Versions of DivX Video – including 3.11. DP-500 equipped with Ethernet connection and KiSS PC-link software lets anyone easily download a protected movie and watch it on their TV, not just the computer.

Hannover, Germany—March 12, 2003— KiSS Technology, a leading manufacturer of DVD products throughout the world, and DivXNetworks, Inc, the company that created the revolutionary patent-pending DivX ® video compression technology, today announced the release of the first fully DivX Certified DVD players at the CeBit computer show in Hannover, Germany. The DP-450 and DP-500 from KiSS Technology are the first DVD players to support high-quality playback of all versions of DivX video content. The devices are on display at the KiSS Technology booth at CeBit in Hall 20, Stand E33.

so they can play everything.. I have a friend working at KISS and he has both of DP-450 and DP-500 and both of them work great!! I have borrowed the DP-500 from him it is really great.. He have also told me that they are about to lunch the DP-508 which will have a 80gb hdd.. so that you can just keep all your films on on the hdd, without burning the film..that one I am gonna get..

We received the Kiss DP-500 today at work. It's not the nicest looking DVD player but it does playback Divx. I re-encode an SVCD to Divx, and just burned the avi onto a CD with Nero. The kiss player had no trouble playing it back. The one big downfall was that you can only play or pause. I wasn't able to FF or REW, not sure if I did something wrong during the encoding or if this is a limitation of the player?

It is a limitation of the player.

Throw some other DivX versions and DivX at it and let us know how it handles them.
