Review: Original Sountrack- Matrix Reloaded

With the most anticipated movie in recent memory comes the soundtrack to the most anticipated movie in recent memory. Remembering back to the original Matrix's soundtrack (which I thought was a great soundtrack with some fine artists like Ministry and Prodigy) I cant but feel a little deja vu. Both soundtracks have the likes of Rage Against The Machine, Rob Zombie, Deftones and Marilyn Manson but I think Reloaded has the better vibe going.
Unfortunately Linkin Park opens the album with an unimpressive instrumental. Thankfully Marilyn Manson (whom this reviewer isnt a big fan of) kicks in quickly with the excellent song "This Is The New Shit" which reminds me of "Beautiful People". Rob Zombie keeps his same ole same ole going with his song "Reloaded" which has the vibe of most of Rob Zombies songs..a little industrial with heavy guitar and drums with Rob's cool tone of singing (Shoulds kept White Zombie together mate).
The album also has a great dance vibe with great songs from Rob Dougan "Furious Angel" and the ever lovable Oakenfold with "Dread Rock" but my personal favorite is Fluke "Zion" really trippy.
All in all its a pretty good soundtrack. Not a great one mind you but a decent one to listen to on your way to and from the theater.

Rating of 3 out of 5 stars

Stand Out Tracks:

Marilyn Manson: This Is The New Shit
Rage Against The Machine: Calm Like A Bomb
Oakenfold: Dread Rock
Fluke: Zion

when i heard the linkin park instrumental on their new record the distorted sounds reminded me of the matrix. that scratchy noise. the song fits the mood of the movie, doesn't fit the soundtrack CD1 and should have been on cd2. its like when you meet a person who's into metallica and michael jackson....it is better than its predecessor from their first album. the RATM is cool, glad it was the first song on the end credits

Advil Addict

I might buy/download this one. The score to the first was fuckin' sweet in my opinion, and I thought the score to the second one fit pretty well with the movie.

pjeer?

cd2 (the score) is better than cd1 by a long way. the music used in matrix should be more carefully thought out i think.. numetal is hardly a good way of representing the underground, as its just pop music with distortion. the lyrics for P.O.D.s track are at least relevent tho.

Mona Lisa is my fave track on it. The rest of the 2CD's pretty much blow. Like pHo said, CD2 is better.

I also really liked this soundtrack. The Marilyn Manson song is great, and I'm practically addicted to Fluke - Zion.

i thought mona lisa overdrive was a great instrumental too.

i also thought it was funny how it's the title of a book that wachowski brothers took a lot of their ideas for the matrix from.
