Try those cheapo princos or any other media with a light blue bottom.
I had an old RCA player that would not play any CD-Rs unless they were the light blue type.
Something about the light blueness having better reflectivity or light refraction, or wavelength. Didn't care too much about the physics about it, just that I finally got CD-Rs to play in my RCA.
