I dunno what to think of this release, but I will say one thing, it is better than its predecessor by Reign.
I didn't D/l the whole release because I figure I am going to buy it. This is a long ass movie (135 mins) with pretty complex, fast moving and heavy contrast scenes (specifically the hockey scenes). It might be too much for a DVD-R all together.
Max bitrate for this movie (movie only, no menu) is 4000kbit/sec approx. ((4,200,000,000 bytes for video / (135min*60sec/min))*8 bits/byte) So realistically, you can only improve on this release by 19%. And that really isn't a big diff. The Reign release was 3100kbit/sec, this one is 3250kbit/sec. However, BHP kept much better extras (interview and DC, as opposed to black screen and useless trailers).
What I am saying is, if you are super ass picky like myself, buy the movie. The video is OK, but you aren't going to get much better even if you did it yourself with movie only.
To top it off, Disney hasn't been doing great retail quality either lately (last movie that I remember this exact situation was Pirates of the Caribbean). So most of the problems I see might occur on the retail.
Video 7/10 - Not BHP's fault. Just too much to pack onto a DVD-R.
DVD-R 9/10 - Good job! Can't improve on this one much until dual layer burners.
27" TV or 17" monitor - 10/10/8 Looks fantastic on my 4:3 27" non-svideo television!! Great job! Also sounds incredible on the mono internal speaker the TV has!!
