Cause people want hassle free ways to watch Movies on they're TV, and VCD and SVCD are pretty well supported by most new DVD players.

Watching films on the PC ruins them, encoding takes time and reduces quality and hooking the PC up to your TV is stupid and only works if you have everything in one room.

As for this release, got a sample, not too great, should of been 2 Discs AC3.

takes almost same amount of time to encode something to xvid or svcd
time is not an issue.

i would rather get a 2 disc xvid with ac3 than a 3 disc svcd,
quality isnt an issue either you can fuck up on any of the formats if encoder doesnt know how to encode (unless you mean encodeing svcd to xvid wich sucks)

btw, im happy owner of an mpeg4 standalone player, cant beat that with any svcd, grat quality and ac3 support.

I have the same problem. I can only watch with VLC Player, but sucks because has a few configurations.

Im reading that in another boards. Maybe is because its use xvid with QPel, and its not supported by common players. Its thats right?

One of the best telecines i have seen, the intro (20th century fox logo) looks like vhs quality or higher.

Many releases of this movie out, strangely....
