weird .avi/DivX problem

Ok, i have never had this problem before.

I recently reformatted my computer. I have watched this video before with the same player and codecs before i reformatted. Also, before I installed DivX it played fine in Window Media Player but it would be detected in TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 so i installed a divx codec. It worked fine last ime, so can anyone tell me why it might not be working this time.

EDT: I ahd an attachment but it didn't look in the picture like it did on my screen. Anyways, its a bunch of weird flashing colors that scroll and flash quickly in the Divx window. I can't describe it any other way. Also, I can still here sound perfectly.

Avoid WMP. Use one of these: VideoLAN Client, BSPlayer, Media Player Classic.

Do you have any special skills?

i once had the same problem with xvid files. uninstalling all codecs and reinstalling the newest versions helped me out.

I agree with horizon, use VideoLan, but from experience I had a similar weird problem with WMP and if I dropped the colour settings from 32-bit to 16-bit the movie played fine.
