Hi,

Ive been trying to follow this guide: http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/svcd2dvdr.htm

(the format im converting is SVCD)

and when ive got the to spruceup step my video isnt centred when I preview it.

ive followed all the steps and have all the separate files it lets me add them in spruce up, but when I preview it its like a third of the screen on the right has been chopped off.

ive looked on the original mpeg file and thats fine so somewhere along the line its getting messed up.

can anyone help me out here?

FIRST OFF

try coverting the movie to dvd specs. use tmpgenc its free if you dont have and converting program. then use a dvd arthuring tool. and burn with NERO. i recommend dvdlab

some dvd players will play svcd's burned on a dvd disk but some wont. you would have had a better chance with a vcd burned to a dvd disk..

Most players made in the last couple of years that play svcd will play them from a dvd.

DVDLab is a very easy way to put svcds on to dvd and create chapters and nice menus.
Here is a tutorial from their website.
Grab the trial, its not disabled in any way, and give it a shot. Im pretty sure youll like it, and you can do alot of dvds in 30 days.

I have a pretty good routine for this type of project that I use mostly on TS and TC svcds that I put on rw media.

BTW...That line "...questions about the software or the proccess..." should carry a sort of *wink wink* "if catch my drift" kind of vibe with it I hope that doesnt push things too far.

Hm.. I've found the best way to do it is to encode an mpeg 2 file using TMPGEnc then burn it using Ulead DVD studio 'cause I can make a menu if I'm feeling productive.. :P

u can cut out some encoding time by using dvd-lab to just transcode the audio to 48khz, then author menu and create dvd files. alot quicker and works well. lossless quality of course cause ur not encoding.

is the file a .dat file? If it is put it into Tmpgenc, it should take 1-2 hrs depending on your computer speed

winavi converter, i use it often for svcd to dvd conversion... u may get slightly better results if you do it manually, but for simplicity and good results, its a very impressive program.

So easy to do on your own......


TMPGenc ....mpeg tools.....demux audio.....convert to DVD audio using "Besweet".

patch first frame of the video with DVDPatcher ...then use any authoring program to make your VOB's.



and voila...your done....this is what SVCD2DVD does aynway.....just does it as a bunch of batch files.

Winavi 6.2 works for svcd. You just need a mpeg2 codec and extract the mpeg from the bin using isobuster filtering m2f2 mpeg frames.

i started using svcd2dvd, found it to be very quick, but for some reason it now fucks up the audio and makes it very jumpy.

so fired it off and gone back to dvdlab pro, takes slightly longer but better results. Would convert them to dvd spec, but i cant be arsed, and the svcd on dvd method works on all my "friends" boxes.
