Try different software before you blame the burner. Like Burnatonce or Alcohol 120%.

I had the same prob with nero and my 108. A quick upgrade to a newer version of nero solved my problems.

There's also a firmware hack that lets you burn your media at any speed. Providing you don't get daft and burn 2x media at 16x it's handy.

i had a problem a while back when i upgraded my 8x cd writer to 48x. the pc would go slow as hell, and the burn would take a day.

flashing the bios sorted it though...

I have tried Alcohol 120% and that did the same i dont think its the burner either as its only 2 months old and was working fine before i HAD to re-format my PC and put a fresh copie of Windows XP Pro into PC.

Only difference i can think of is that i cannot get my ethernet to intsall so have had to use USB for my cable modem would the drivers for them modem be conflicting with the drivers for the DVD burner this is driving me crazy PLEASE help me lol

Pongo a quick question for you.

What type of motherboard do you have.

Is it an NForce 2 because the IDE drivers for that cause chaos
when burning discs.

But if you do there is a solution....

this is thwe first message i've posted and i hope it helps.

I've had the same problem as your self untilrecently.

the answer for me was 2 fold.

I started to convert all formats using WinAvi to VOB files.

and I upgraded my Ram upto 1gb.
this did the trick for me and now i can burn everything at top speeds and with no problems.
hope this helps.

I had a similiar problem and it was due to the Nforce IDE drivers.

Some discs would complete burning and others would lock up the computer.

You need to uninstall the ide drivers through device manager and then reboot.

When it reboots it will install generic windows IDE drivers.

Hopefully that will be the end of your problems.

Laters.....
