Question Having problems with WIDESCREEN

Hi! I looked around to see if this problem was written about, but I didn't see it.

Anyway, I was backing up a movie to take with me on vacation. The Dvd is a WIDESCREEN edition, I burned it successfully with Mac The Ripper and Toast, but when I played it to test it out, it was in full screen, NOT widescreen. Also, I feel it could have been a little clearer. I used the LaCie d2 double-layer drive.

What could I be doing wrong?

Thanks so much in advance!

I'm not sure I understand what you've done. You took a DVD, and copied it onto another DVD, and now the copy won't play the same way the original did?

What software are you using to play the copy? The Apple DVD Player thingy?

Maybe the DVD has both the WS and FS versions on the same disc and there's a way of selecting which one you want to view?

Sounds like you forgot to set the copy as anamorphic, so now it just plays back as it's encoded. The original DVD is that way, too.. these days, they all are. But there's a flag in it somewhere that tells whatever you're playing it back through that it's anamorphic, so it's stretched or squashed back into it's "normal" ratio. Your copy is missing that.
