Help with converting a movie..

I'm having a hard time converting my files from what I downloaded to the final product. Is there an online tutorial where I can learn about how to convert with winrar and put all the pieces together. Im not sure how many sections or files there are for my herbie movie.

The only thing I did was extract the bin.cue out of the first 001 rar file.

Admin?

This question has been answered a load of times... Do a search but the basic gist is:

1. Check the rars using WinSFV to checksum them
2. Extract either the .rar or .001 file with Winrar
3. Burn bin/cue pairs using BurnAtOnce and iso/img files with DVD Decrypter (there's many alternative burning programs out there but they're my preferred ones)
4. Watch it, with your eyes!

I did a search I couldnt find anything sorry. but thanks for the reply. Will the win sfv tell me if I have the complete movie?

i have conveted the rar 001 file. I have a ton of winarchive files .if I try to open it says "would I like to replace the exiosting file becasue its exactly the same size.

I am assuming it uncompressed all my rar files into the bin cue file?

I also have a number of par files.

I understand now..winsfv is a program to check and see if I have all the files needed.

Can I use sfvchecker or just stick with winsfv?

what about the par files? I noticed I have some PAR2 files does your 1,2 3 method still apply because of the PAR 2 FILES?

I prefer QuickSFV but I doubt it matters. As for your other points - you've assumed right about extracting the .rar... Winrar is intelligent enough to know the archive spans multiple rars and extracted the lot.

The reason they're split into multiple rars is so that if a file is identified as fucked by the SFV checker, you only need locate that one piece again instead of the entire iso.

Finally, I take it you're downloading off Usenet 'cos of the .par files... I know they're some sort of checksum doohickey (like an SFV on steroids) and can be used to reconstruct fucked archives but beyond that I can't help cos I don't use em - I'm sure somebody around here can elaborate though

PAR2 files are like SFV on speed, they not only check the file is complete but also if it is fucked they identify which PART of the file is fucked, so if for example a 49MB file has a couple of hundred bad K, instead of having to get the whole lot you just need to get enough PAR2 "Blocks" to cover the fucked bit, Quickpar is your best friend for PAR and PAR2 files (but hardly anyone uses PAR files now)

I would normally grab the smallest PAR2 file with a release and use it as a SFV checker, then if I need anymore blocks I can grab just the number I need.

Like I said earlier, grab quickpar and grab a small PAR2 file, put the PAR2 in the same DIR as your downloaded files and double click it.

PS: If you tell me you are using outlook express I will shoot you in the head.

PAR files are a blessing, i never download anything that doesnt have them. Install Quickpar, download your rar set and the .PAR2 file. Right click on the PAR2 file > Open with Quickpar, and it wil scan your rar set, identify if there are any rars missing or incomplete and will tell you how many blocks you need to repair.

I normally just download everything, open it up with quickpar set on autofix.

::EDIT:: That question has been answered 100s of times on this forum, do a seach. Oh, and stop posting in movie comments threads until you've actually seen the release (not relevant to this thread but I just deleted about 3 pointless posts of yours from the review threads)
