Help Needed...DVDRip Format

Hi,

I recently downloaded a movie on the net and once completed, i found that the movie has no extension file. It was about 662MB file and when i checked back on the webiste i download from, i found that the movie format was DVDrip.

How to play this movie as i have already rename it to .avi, .mpg, .mov and etc but none of the player on my pc could recognize this format.

Appreciate if someone could help me.

MEOW DAMN IT!!!

probably an xvid,download and install an xvid codec..you should also download gspot..then open the video with it and it will tell you what codec is needed to play it and will tell you if the proper codec is installed..

no extension file? i take it your folder options are set to show extensions?

it might be a .iso or .img file

it could be one of those dvdrips that are encoded with the 'vodei' codec. i had one of them once and it was driving me crazy so i just deleted it and got another rip. fortunately, they arent that common so you should be alright. watch out though because unless it says so, u cant really tell.

if it helps, a program called 'G-Spot' is useful for identifying which codecs are needed to play the file

::EDIT:: they are encoded with this codec because they are probably meant only for watching on a pc. they might be designed so you cant convert them to dvd or watch on a standalone
