No they don't need to follow that. ITU resize in DVD's themselves isn't a standard anyhow (i.e. it's not used in all DVD's).

It's complicated, but it comes down to being how the picture is displayed or DAR (display aspect ratio). ITU dictates certain resize values, which may look funky when watched on your PC monitor etc. More about it here:

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=42708

To be fair it does appear there is actually no one person who has the correct knowledge to 100% confirm ITU IS the way to go, it's all conjecture.

Uncheck? That's assuming they used Gordian Knot or something? How do you know the resolution they used was just a good res to use?

There's nothing in release rules that says you need to keep to ITU resolutions btw.

Yeah, nice rip, and to be expected from a medium-high encode. I finally got to watch everything, so yeah blacks are black, with and there's minimal grain. Flames and ravages of hades look quite vivid, as if you were there

edit -- pity about the AR or cropping being slightly poor - see second page of comments. (AR is 2.5:1 when it *should* be 2.35:1 or 640x272.

ps - Now, I posted about this somewhere else, but hmm, the AC3 is interleaved at 40 ms, which I've noticed with many rips now that I analyze AC3 interleave. According to release rules audio is supposed to be either 64 or 96 ms. Why is the rule not enforced? If it is not enforced why does it exist? Could anyone give a good reason, thanks

Sound is really echoing badly for me like the wholesoundtrack has been recorded in an Opera theartre, any ideas why this is happening to me ? gspot says 4 compatible codecs for audio ?

When I convert to mpeg2 uding winavi I get no sound at all.

Please don't mistake my comment on AC3 interleave as saying it has poor audio, it's just according to the rules I've read interleave is supposed to be 64 or 96 ms. The sound of the actual AC3 is good.

Lono9885: what codec/filter etc is being used to playback/decode the AC3 audio track? I would suggest only using the AC3Filter found here - http://ac3filter.sourceforge.net/ (and tweak it if needed) Also check that you main audio settings are ok.
