I've tried to find a good guide explaining how to merge files when encoding, but can't find a good enough one. Is there a simple way to do this? I'm working with an XviD that is 2 cds, at 700MB a piece. The movie is about 2 hours and 6 minutes give or take a few minutes. I want to make a nice SVCD 3 cd copy, but can't figure out how to merge the parts. I'm using TMPGEnc 3.0 Xpress with all the proper codecs installed. Any help would be appreciated.

i guess you have your reasons for converting to svcd maybe a standalone player? i have a philips 642 that plays divx and svcd some xvid i have to reencode to divx before they play some play as they come.it's always a pain for me to re-encode,and each time you encode you lose some quality. there are lots of software that joins files but most screw up lip sync. if you want to skip joining ashampoo shrink and burn will change the files from xvid to svcd. a svcd is only supposed to be for a 40 min file.ashampoo will encode to whatever you tell it. if you set it to encode a 700 mb xvid to a 700 mb svcd it will do it. however it will shrink the size of the picture, if you have zoom on your standalone it will blow the file up bigger on your screen. but as i said ,it's not going to look as good as the xvid you started with.wish i could be of more help

Thank you for the information. I took the video and made a 2 cd VCD but the loss of quality is too great, seeing as it is a dvd source. If I have to, I can live with it, but I'd like to figure this out.

use vdubmod to frame serve to tmpgnc
open vdubmod
File > open video > Select cd1 > File > append video segemnt > File > Start frame server.

then it will save a .vdr whereever u choose. then u just use ur encopser to open the .vdr as if it was avi.

btw, i would recomend goiong to dvd instead of svcd, that is if u have a dvd burner.

you can use power video converter to reencode to SVCD and to join the files. Then if you want to cut the final SVCD to 3 cd's use tmpgenc
