TS, TC SVCD 2-channel audio = Dolby Surround?
I've been wondering about this lately.. haven't really come up with a good answer on my own yet.
We all know that SVCDs are limited to only two channels of audio (stereo).
Are those two channels encoded in Dolby Surround, or some semblance thereof? I know that TSs and TCs usually use direct-feed audio of one kind or another, and that audio is most likely downsampled from the full 7.1 theatrical track.
For example, the SW3 DVDRip XviD was in Surround.. when I watch it on my system downstairs, I turn on Pro Logic II and I get a pretty decent 5.1 sound field out of it.
My question is.. will this work on ALL 2-channel releases? TSs, TCs, etc? Sometimes it's hard to tell when I'm watching it, whether it's doing "real" Surround decoding, or if it's just doing a "best-guess" from the stereo, which often sounds like crap since things will get sent to the wrong speaker.
