I know how to convert all the formats to other formats etc etc and i know about all the guide sites but my question is do you guys think it is possible to convert a 2gb avi and fit it on a 4gb dvd. I've download The 4400 first series and wanted to fit it all one one dvd but would it loose alot of quality and is it really feasble?

When converting video it is the runtime you need to be concerned about for quality. Not the size of source.
Disclaimer EDIT.: Obviously size of source matters for quality. I'm just saying that anything over 2 hrs and you'll start to notice serious quality loss, reqardless of if the source is 8 GB's to begin with.

Anything over 2hrs???? Don't think so!!! A lot comes down to what bitrate you encode as opposed to time. What about LOTR for example? A good 3hrs+ movie-used DVD Shrink and the output was barely noticeable to the naked eye!!! Problems occur when people want 2 movies (almost 4hrs) on one SL disc and then you notice quality loss and experience pixelation etc.
i like DVD shrink for personal backups, but I will only use this method if I can get the video percentage to or above 75% with deep analysis and the sharpen tool.
anything below that, i will just do the movie no menus and the like.
LOTR on a sl with menus and shit? are you serious, I noticed some artifacts on family guy dvds and thats a cartoon with little to no action scenes.
but to each his own.
