Not a bad release. Emerald did all they can to try and save the awful video transfer at Universal (which is unlike them). Picture is so soft and lots of ugly edge enhancement around Sean Penn's shirt (amongst other places). Too bad though. But no need to talk about Universal's screw up.
Emerald did as good as possible with this (almost). The whole disc is dedicated to the movie (other than 120megs + the DC track), which is good enough for movie only fans like me. Other than the video looking like crap (which is not Emeralds fault), the release is good.
Video 9/10 - The video deserves like a 5/10, but I'm rating the release video compared to the retail (which I don't have). So I pulled that number out of my ass, but I feel if I had the retail, it wouldn't be too far off. But really, I didn't see any re-encoding issues that would get me all upset. Most of the issues that might be CCE issues are way overshadowed by Universals poor ass transfer. Ironically, I am sure when this gets reviewed elsewhere (like IGN) it will have a 10/10 on video, but I thought this transfer sucked balls.
DVD-R 10/10 - Nice job. Wouldn't have done much different, other than strip the boring ass DC. But that's just me. Well worth the grab.
Overall movie, probably never going to watch it again. Never big on the political crap. Definitely a rent or a DL/mount/watch/erase.
