Start releasing DVD9's? Your nuts.. just buying 1 cd is to much money. Way to early.

Maybe this'll shut up the bitchers

I'm no fan of the group, but all the bitching about the previous DVD9's has been about the movies having already been released for days/weeks. Well, The Day After Tomorrow isn't due for two weeks or so, so are you guys finally somewhat happy?

I'm trying to imagine how they'd fuck up a 1:1 copy, but if anyone has any info (that have dl'd it) on if anything is wrong (maybe they screwed up the region setting or left macrovision enabled), that'd be cool to hear about.

It's coming guys, MSD it on some of my sites so i have seen it. Only worth the download if u want all the extras. Everything is downsampled except the movie. The scene will get there soon enough though. YOu just wait and see!!!

How is that so? its a straight 1:1 , therefore extras should be exact same as original disc.????

Er... the NFO says it's got untouched video, and it claims to have the DD 5.1 and DTS 6.1 audio tracks. Doesn't sound like they downsampled anything to me...

And if it's being released as a DVD9 copy, why would anything be downsampled?

bcool2k, do you actually have a source that you got this information from? Or, did you pull this information from the sky and felt it sounded official?

Dual Layer DVDRs can hold 8.5 gigs. However, a retail DVD has the capacity of about 9.4. If The Day After Tomorrow is over 8.5 gigs, downsampling is necessary.

Well .. one thing i don't get, is that the nfo says it's 77x100mb, which would mean it's roughly 7.7GB. If DL discs can hold 8.5GB i'd assume that nothing was down sampled .. or they fucked up.

I love getting DVD-9's. That way, I can remove/keep whatever I want. I wish there were more...

Retail DVD's cannot hold 9.4 GB-- you're confusing double sided-single layer discs with single sided-dual layer. The DVD+R DL media is the exact same size as the commercial dual layer discs you buy at retail. The only difference is that DVD writers can't write to the media block that contains the CSS data (boo-fuckin'-hoo; they'd have been on to something if they'd stored the Macrovision bit in the non-writable area and forced media to have it toggled on, but they didn't).

I just asked one of the affils, perhaps he screwed up. I didn't bother to download the full release. I have the movie both the retail and real REtail DVDRs so why bother. I Will wait a week or two till the actual retail comes out, and perhaps follow up, with a comparison. I have downloaded a few MSD from my sites and they look downsampled to me. Besides its just an opinion and i said the video was Untouched ie perfect. There Van Helsing however, anyone can tell is downsampled. I watched the video looks untouched, but the menu and all extras are more like VCD quality although that wasn't a DVD9 so who knows. We'll find out soon enough though. I just give the group props for releasing some DVD9's!!

if you read the posts above youd see that this version by -MSD is a straight 1:1 clone of the original dvd, meaning its identical in every way to the one you would buy from the shop.
