Non-Wii uses for the Wiimote
I've been participating in a forum that is attempting to run a Live Linux CD on the Wii. Almost no ground has been covered yet, however, there has been much discovered with regards to the Wiimote.
This bluetooth device now has Windows, Mac, and Linux drivers/modules to function as the following.
- PC Game Controller (both for controller and FPS)
- PC Mouse
- Vibrator (with programmable variable starts & stops)
- Drum Machine
I recently was referred to this link
I've played only three games using the Wiimote on the Wii, and agree that it is a completely ideal manner in which to control gameplay for games that are specifically designed for it. It works intuitively for Wii Sports and for Zelda, and seems to for Excite Truck (not confirmed), however for a game like Marvel Ultimate Alliance, it was not great, or maybe it's just that that game sucks as well.
Well, the point of this thread is that I was thinking about what is in the future for gaming controls, in general, as well as for the PC. Seems that Nintendo might have "developed" (see patent thread) something more revolutionary than just the overall features of the Wii (like playing older games, Mii's, etc)... the Wiimote.
See youtube for various other example videos.
