Laptop: dead keyboard

Hey guys, I have a laptop but not much knowledge of them when it comes to actual maintenance.

I'm trading a Packard Bell lappy for my Nintendo DS.. i dig the DS but its not getting the use, and this means I can sell my other laptop which I don't use (lack of battery power and underpowered for DV work) in order to make some cash back.

Anyway, the laptop I'm getting I've been advised that the keyboard doesn't function. I'm hoping its simply a case of stripping it down and finding a bad connection? He says it just didn't work one day, whats the various things that it could be? The ext keyboard out works fine apparently. At worst I'll get a mini keyboard to go with it, but I'd rather pay next to nothing (if possible) and get the onboard one functioning.

The One, The Only

Impact Computers have good prices for parts for (most) laptops and reliable shipping and accurate order processing. Most likely the keyboard is dead, and its not a connection, it very rarely is.
