Looter, are you currently running XP Media or are you installing it on the SATA drive?
you say you don't have any IDE drives currently plugged in, so that means you're running on SATA only (excepting optical devices) which means that:
If you are installing onto a SATA and don't currently have it running, then you need to give XP the drivers during install, should be a line that says "Press F6 to install a third party driver," and you will need a floppy for this, as assinine as that sounds, reads from A: only...
OR
you already are running on a SATA drive, which means drivers are installed, and if windows doesnt recognize it, you've either forgotten to go to disk management and give it a drive letter/format it or its bum and doesnt even show up in bios.
let me know if i'm close on either of those points.
