VERY NICE ACTUALLY

Menu is Spanish but not difficult to figure out. Audio defaults to Spanish 2.0 but can easily be changed to English 2.0. Can be played with English or Spanish subs or with none at all.

Movie is 4:3 but not much is lost from the sides as it wasn't shot all that wide and you gain quite a bit top & bottom. Movie is also completely uncensored.

Nice pic, nice audio, no menu issues. You might get error messages when unraring but just ignore them.

10/10/9

We're rating the release/transfer quality, not the movie distributor's preferences. Not everyone has 5.1 surround or a 16:9 monitor and those that haven't will be perfectly happy with this release. In fact, on the average PC setup, I would say this version is preferable to a multi-channel surround widescreen version.

why would you not prefer anamorphic on a pc setup? I mean it's just a quality advantage (higher resolution). I can understand that you don't need 5.1 audio depending on your setup though. But if the movie distrubutor's quality preference would be VCD res on a DVD (which is possible), it'd still give it a lower rating ;P

This is not a letterboxed transfer. It is full screen 4:3 (or "pan & scan" if you prefer). The resolution is 720x480 which is the same as anamorphic except that it fills the average PC monitor completely. Some people like watching a letterboxed picture in the middle of a tiny PC screen, I don't. If I owned a 26" W/S PC monitor I would probably feel differently.

We are being asked to rate the quality of this release, not the quality of some hypothetical 16x9 transfer of the same title. As 4:3 transfers go, this one is perfect. CCAT have done a very good job indeed.

ah sorry, I thought fullscreen releases were still laballed as such (FS). Although this release might fit your setup perfectly, I never liked P&S even back when I still had a 4:3 TV because you're simply missing half of the picture. Anyways, I'm not here to argue about releases, releasegroups or picture preferences. Bascially just wanted to know how and why you rated like this and now I know. thanks.
