Wii: Mario Strikers Charged
ok, these reviews are going to be quick because I'm wanting to put the "major" games on today to help you spastics...
Gameplay 8/10: Ok, so it's five-a-side football (or "Soccer" if you're twat) game with MarioKart style power ups. It plays very well, the controls are piss easy and overall it's a very addictive little game. Sure, I'd like to see more powerups and the player AI is a little "off" at times - if you're not in control of that player he may just mill about aimlessly. Gameplay is fast and addictive and the online mode (unplayed) is sure to add a new dimension to it. Multi-player mode with friends , sat around the console is a blast... Almost in the Bomberman/Mariokart league for multiplayer fuckhardyness.
Graphics 7/10: Not fantastic but good. I know the Wii is capable of better but they're fast and detailed but nothing to write home about. Nothing about them screems "cutting edge" but they're clear, easily recognisable and do the job well. If however, you're colour blind like myself, it can be hard working out which your players are.
Sound: 5/10: Look, its a Mario game which means jolly jingles and shit. Don't expect Aphex Twin unless you're a fucking goit. Some of the "ditties" can become annoying though, especially in a game with lots of special moves and/or goals.
Overall 7/10: Questionable longevity as a single player game but when you take the excellent multiplayer mode and onlin e play into account this one is a blast. Decent graphics and adequate audio make this an excellent title and almost certainly another Nintendo cash-cow, ready to be milked until its udders atrophy.
