External drive sharing...

I have a an external hdd that i use for storing music, videos, etc that i also want to set as a shared drive so I can stream the content wirelessly to the xbox.

Getting the external drive set up as a shared drive isnt a problem, but once the pc is shut down and restarted the external drive is no longer set up as shared . Is there any way to get the pc to remember its set as a shared drive?

Its no big deal, its just a pain in the arse redoing it every time I boot the pc. And no, i'm not going to leave it switched on.

Edit: I'm using XP btw.

If I understand what you attempting to do, you may need to "hard-code" the drive. Afterwards it should remember the share within it. Plug in external drive, right click My Computer > Manage > Storage > Disk Management. Find you drive, Right Click on it > Change Drive Letter and Paths > Change to "Z" or something. Whatever you changed it to, it will always remap to this drive letter. Create your share (My Stuff) on Z:, then Tools > Map Network Drive, Z:\My Stuff. Unplug it and plug back in, will still be Z:\.....
