WHO IS JOHN GALT?
*Smashes seal skull*

Taking audio from one release and adding it to another.

How would I take audio from one release and sync it to another? Would I use VirtualDub, or am I completely wrong there? Sorry if this has been posted.

i'm sure there's an easier way to do it, but what has worked for me in the past has been to encode the avi as vob, then use vobedit to separate the audio from the video. do that with both avi's, then import the audio from one to the other. after that, i would recode the vobs back to an avi.

prolly more steps than you need, but doing it this way allowed me to mess with the audio before merging with the second vob. i've mentioned adobe audition in threads before, but i just can't say enough good things about it.

vdub does a great job on muxing the new audio to the vid
Syncing isn't something I would recommend vdub for though.
At best you use a proper vid editting tool, like adobe/pinacle and such.
Problem is most of these programs will not accept xvid, so you'll have to transcode to a sort of lossless code (.AVI)
Once you imported the transcoded vid and the new audio, just follow the steps in the program itself for syncing.
After that you create a mp3 from new (synced) audio and mux it with vdub (or nandub if VBR mp3).
Hope this helps. Syncing can be a bitch. GL.

I have retaliated to your "flames" (term used lightly) in the past, but that wasn't a flame, i was pointing out the obvious!

Admin?

How about you two knobheads stop shitting-up legitimate threads and confine your foreplay to the pink forum?

bottles bottles bottles

I have tried before to sync a different audio to vid, and I found it extremely difficult. It is difficult to tell if there are any cuts in the differing audio or video that make sync a bitch, unless you sit through the whole thing to see any changes. If they are identical in time, then you can just use vdub to mux, otherwise I have used HypercubeTimeStretcher before to sync, but found it very time consuming and complicated.
