x264 codec help, not a newb

Okay, no sound on my x264 720p mkv movies, happened just today.

I've encountered this problem on other pc's where i had to dload mkv player... but when i set up my media pc for hd movies, all I installed was k-lite 3.something and the sound and video worked perfectly.

Now just today i played one of the movies and the sound is gone but vid was fine. i uninstalled the the old k lite and just installed 3.9 full. Same problem, i've been tryin to find a way to fix it but nothing yet...

Before all of the movies worked which is about 30... now 0!
Thought mayb some1 could help?

I had a simliar problem but it was video that i was losing.

Fixed it by re-installing , might be worth you trying again. Make sure you uninstall everything.

Admin?

Try bypassing your codecs by using a stand-alone player such as VLC (powerful) or GOM Player (pretty).

There is also an application that can analyse the file and tell you which codecs Windows is using to decode it, so you can look for possible issues or unknown codecs: http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

^Yes, we all noticed but chose not to say anything Besides, K-Lite isn't as bad as it used to be, although why anybody installs any codecs in the first place is a mystery to me when VLC and GOM are out there
