Belinea FTW

Never really had the need to praise any companies customer service before so this is a nice first.

Belinea/MaxData. I had a problem with a monitor I bought about a year and a half ago. It has a 3 year manufacturers warranty so I ring them up, they ask me the problem, I tell them, they agree a convenient time for me and are sending me out a replacement.

No hassle, no interrogation, no insistence on meaningless receipts or proof of purchase, they just take the serial number, see its still in warranty and click click job done.

Impressed like a mofo.

mod? no! asshole? yes!

Another company that is pretty easy going is Samsung. They won't just ship you a new unit, but warranteed repairs are pretty easy. If you registered when you got the product (receipt not required to register), they'll go from that date, and give you an extra three months on the warranty... if you have neither receipt or registry, they'll check the serial and date of manufacture, and most agents will push it through if its a few days to a month past warranty (i.e. forge a registry).

While I did tech support there I only had to turn down a few callers, mostly those with "This DLP's only 4 years old, and I have to buy a new lamp?!" Yeah, you also need to purchase gas and change the oil in your car from time to time...

Replacement monitor arrived today, as arranged. Seriously, Belinea ftw. They would have done it within 48 hours but I arranged it for today coz I had to be in to swap it.

Brand new monitor dropped off, no hassles, no complaints and they even threw in a weird looking courier for entertainment value.

Had similar experience with Netgear. Wireless router blew, called, connected immediately to a call centre in India (- expected the worst! -), spoke to an engineer who confirmed it was fried within 20 mins of tests, a replacement was priority shipped, arrived the next day free of charge.
