Which OS?

On Mac It's a toss up between Mplayer and VLC, VLC looks much nicer, I wish they would implement the full screen aspects of the osx version into windows. VLC is better on Mac than on Windows.

On Win it's a toss up between MPC and VLC

for HD I prefer MPC, It just plays better.

Admin?

On Windows I'd say GOM Player is "as good as" cos they're both standalone but have strengths in different areas... I use both, although VLC is my default player.

For high-definition you do.

I use Zoom player. Wouldn't say it's better than VLC, I just like the interface and the ease of use. I do have and occasionally use VLC though.

pjeer?

KMPlayer is the best media player on Windows, and it's better than anything on OSX or Linux too.

I have it, and it is actually not bad, i just don't like the hotkeys in it. Maybe I am used to VLC player hotkeys but KMplayer remids me a lot of windows media player classic, with tons of more options. So yea, KMPis really good.

I have both VLC and KMP. And I must admit that I use VLC the most, even though i am very satisfied with both.

You run both Win and OsX right? What's the best Media player on os X? I've been using VLC and Mplayer. Both are very decent.

I don't know of any others that support .MKV files.

More options, better video quality (VLC is good and easy, but the video quality when running .TS stuff was visibly lower than Zoomplayer etc)

On OSX I just use VLC, altho I had mplayer installed on my old macbook for the odd thing that didn't run. Just have VLC on my MBPro now. KMPlayer is on my HTPC.

You run a Mac? I didn't know that.

Mplayer is very nice. It plays .mkv files really nicely. I just can't run 1080i with it. Maybe my pc is to slow for it. Who knows. I can play 1080i files with Windows.
