bah....

i get a window up at the top left corner saying auto play....my d drive is not a dvd drive...it is a hard disc....it then proceeds to scan the contents of the media stored on the drive....after a few min...another window pops up like when you insert a cd into your dvd drive...."what would you like windows to do?"...(gives options for various media players...etc....)...

thissll happen 4 or 5 times in a row....even if i click cancell it just roll again

and its glue....ive been off the paint for years softy

You've got 2 choices, most likely.


1. you have been donged again. That can indicate an autorun.inf hidden on the root of your hard drive. Usually put there by spyware.

Open my computer, click tools, folder options, view. click view hidden files and folders. click apply and ok

now open your d drive. you may have to right click on it and tell it open

look for an autorun file. delete it.


2. Your drive (or other power component) is failing. I'd say the drive, mostly because the problem is limited in scope. if the drive is powering on and off, it will run that window every time it comes back online. this assumes that it is truly a second HD and not a second partition, though if it is a second partition, it doesn't get any better.

no auto run file....must be failing or loose connection....illl look tonight....its only a back up drive and it came from the old shitbox...so its at least 5 years old

Zooter-tip: Turn off the PC and disconnect from the mains prior to removing bits from it. Do NOT wash the HD. Do NOT snip wires with scissors, disconnect them instead.

Zoot try this, next time the QQ autorun window pops up select the take no action choice from the menu and check the always take this action. that should atleast keep it from popping up and disturbing u. other than that u might have a prob with your MB or some bad IDE cables or sata. whichever your using

there is no always do this option on this occasion......besides that fuckin button dont work anyway....i always check always do nothing when i put cds in whether they are blank or burned....and i always get a window anyway...but thanx for the reply
