another bit off google

First, I would remove the nut and carefully fill the off axis hole with
RayCrete or another suitable epoxy. Now go to bed and don't come back
for 24hrs. Fast foward. Carefully measure and mark the center of the
new hole. With the neck very carefully supported, redrill the screw
hole with an appropriately sized drill bit in a solid drill press. Do
not drill deeper than required by the screw and do not mess with the
angle (match the other unfilled hole to get this one right, there
should be a slight break back towards the headstock created by the nut
seat..the holes sometimes follow this angle).

Note: When replacing the nut, fasten each screw down evenly...don't
tighten one down, then the other...this really stresses the wall of the
holes.

Keep in mind, this area of the neck is typically a weak point where the
truss rod often rides underneath the nut. Many makers will place an
insert with thinner screws on the nut to help address this issue. If
this is the case, you'll have to figure out how to get the insert out
without mangling the seat so you can fill it and redrill a hole to
accept it back in the proper spot. Many just screw out, take your time
and don't forget to keep your neck properly supported when you're
working on it.

When working with the epoxy around an instrument, make sure you cover
the headstock and neck...in an ideal world the only part exposed would
be the part that you want filled with epoxy. Even so, keep a wet cloth
nearby for accidents.

This is not a particularly difficult repair, but do keep in mind that
you will only get better with practice and you really do need the right
tools to do a decent job...a hand drill in this application is a
potential recipe for disaster...best avoid the avoidable and be
prepared for the rest.

To remove the old nut, if the finish goes over the ends, first take a hobby knife and cut through the finish around the edge of the old nut. This will prevent the old nut from taking a bunch of lacquer with it when it comes off. (This is more a concern on Gibson-style nuts than Fender-style nuts.) Then, using a punch (or, if you don't have one, a nail with the tip cut or ground off works too), give the old nut a sharp rap on the side with a small hammer. It ought to just pop off.

The new nut can be put on with just a drop or two of regular white Elmer's glue. You don't want to really weld it in there; you just want enough glue to stop it from moving around. You may well want to remove the nut again at some point (especially if, in the course of learning how to make nuts, you end up going too deep with a string slot!), so do yourself a favor and don't go overboard with the glue. Any squeeze-out can be cleaned up with a damp rag; don't use too much water because you definitley don't want to get water into the end grain of the fingerboard! Other glues will work too (yellow wood glue; cyanoacrylate super glue); the trick is not to use too much. Other glues may have different clean-up procedures; check into that first!

Good luck!

You can possibly fix it by putting some thick paper in the nut (e.g. cut a business card up) but it really is just to see you through the evening until you can get it fixed properly.

Definitely... the toothpick won't have much give in it whereas the string can settle into the thick paper/card nicely.

Nausea

fret buzz has a lot to do with your truss rod, it rarely can be the nut. you can try adjusting it and the bridge in small increments seeing how it sounds tightened or loosened.
