Untergang, Der (Downfall) 2004

One of my best friends had been telling me about this movie for some time now, He finally got from Netflix this passed weekend. Before the OSU game we watched it.

I was completely floored. This movie was amazingly good. Some things are hard to watch, but this is what happened.

It's not a slow paced movie, It starts rather quick, It's 2 1/2 hours long but it goes quick. Bruno Ganz played a fantastic Hitler.

4 out of 4 stars.

Here is the plotline from IMDB, I'm not going to ruin anything for anyone. Just watch it.

Traudl Junge (Lara), the final secretary for Adolf Hitler (Ganz), tells of the Nazi dictator's final days in his Berlin bunker at the end of WWII.

Admin?

Nicely summed up Para... I watched it back when it originally came out and fully agree with the critical acclaim it received.

You should try a few more international movies, they're infinitely better than the dross Hollywood is producing (as evidenced by the big studios buying the tights to all of em so they can be "remade") - I'm yet to see Hollywood improve a movie when they remake it

Unless you have a time machine that's...oh, never mind.

Check out 'The Tunnel', 'The Lives of Others' and, for a novelty, a German chickflick 'In July'. All are IMO brilliant.

But if you truly want a taste of German cinema (and want to watch one of the best movies in history) then find a copy of Fritz Lang's 'M'. I guarantee you will be blown away by how well a movie could be made over 75 years ago.

You're 100% correct. I don't think I've ever seen any Hollywood remakes that I've enjoyed, The best remake I've probably seen was The Departed, I've haven't seen the original though. I will say The Departed wasn't oscar material.

I can say this is the first German movie I've probably seen. It for sure left a good taste in my mouth.

Thanks Baha, I will look into those flicks.
