the movie's got some good fight scenes but some are "sped up" it seems

as for the release, the video has major quality issues throughout (pixels etc..) and the audio... well... i guess it's "ok" but euhm, what about the non-THAI people who watch this movie? no subs hard-coded, no subs available in the release either.

Check ur sources then cuz mine came with subs.
I've only skimmed through but I dont see how a 2 is warranted. Definetly going to watch this soon...

Remember that the Original DVD9 only has Thai Audio and Thai Subs with full thai menu.

There are a few rips of this movie floating around.
ive seen one DVD5 with thai & Eng DVD menu but only Dutch subs, using a one-click rip tool so the picture isn't great.
and ive got here a DVD9 with full thai dvd menu, Thai 5.1 & Thai 2.0 Audio but custom Eng & Dutch Subs.
Picture quality of the DVD9 is quite good.

All the rips of this movie ive seen have quite good Custom subs, i mean it looks like someone has taken time to do a good translation.
where as you normally see them crap ass Chinese subs auto translated into English, so as subs go im pleasantly surprised.

As audio go, there never was an English track, for this we will have to whate for a western release. (i prefer original audio)

Picture, The Original DVD9 isn't fantastic, but its way better than all the one-click rips I've seen of this movie.

This release is crying out for a PROPPER.

The movie itself is fucking awesome, a bit clumsy to get going but as the movie matures with its story the fight scenes (and there's a fucking lot) just get better and better.
his grasp of Chinese kung fu at the mid point is quite good, but the fight scenes towards the end they get awesome. (even a little drunken boxing no less)
visually as times its very reminiscent of mel's Apocalypto.

if you liked Panom Yeerums other movies you will love this.
and if you like this, you may be pleased to know they filmed Ong Bak 3 back to back with this.
There's a scene in this with someone you know here, LOL can you spot it? i say no more.

Admin?

Watched this flick last night and thought it was excellent. The rip isn't the best but it's easily watchable and the subs were in "English" which is always a bonus when you watch movies from this region.

I agree with Arthur that the whole movie has a "feel" of Apocalypto to it. With regards to the editing, the plot is a bit contrived (yet still confusing in places!) but I doubt you expected anything else and it more than makes up for it with some classy fight scenes... Tony Jaa pulls off some moves that even I can't do!

The video is a bit pixellated and lacking in definition. The audio seems ok, can't comment on how clear the speech was cos I couldn't understand a fucking word of it.

As for VCDQ infiltrating the filming of this... I haven't spotted the scene yet but if our resident movie star would like to point me in the right direction I can edit his fucking mugshot out of my copy so it doesn't spoil my enjoyment of the film.

Video - Gets very pixellated in parts, particularly in the darker scenes but for a fast paced action film it holds up pretty well.

Audio - Good enough, seems to be in sync throughout

The subs are accurate and very descriptive so a major thankyou to Jan De Uitvreter (of a certain fame for his Thai DVD rips ) for making what would otherwise have been a completely confusing film watchable!

Film - Great action with a deeper storyline than the first or Tom Yum Goong. After a confusing start the film pieces together nicely. Really good scenery and costumes all round. Really worth the watch!!

V: 6 it looks like a one-pass encode, pixelation in fast scenes or with water, trees, etc...things that usually need more bitrate, the rest of the video looks great.

A: 8 it sounded fine for mp3, good amount of bass and everything was clear.

V: I don't normally expect a good storyline or script from martial arts movies but after the first half I was unsure where it was going, the story becomes more coherent by the end.

I was expecting something completely different and thats probably why I felt unsatisfied at the end, after reading there's a part 3 to come I now understand why it seemed half finished. There's some great action scenes but the comic relief from part one has gone (except one scene with dirty-itchy balls) and I missed that.

The log rolling scene was excellent and original, substitute elephants for logs
The look of the film was top class too, it's a pity the film suffered so many production problems, a better script and it would have been great, guess I'll have to wait for the 3rd part before making my mind up if I liked it or not.
