Remastered/Remixed Albums

Pearl Jam's new release of 'Ten' sounds fucking great, I think this is the first remastered rock album I've listened to where there is a significant difference in sound, there are guitar fills I've never noticed before and the overall sound is much better, in comparison, the original recording sounds compressed and quite dull.

Are there any other albums that have had similar improvements with a re-release?

I've heard remastered albums before from Slayer, Metallica, Maiden...etc.., but there is hardly a difference in sound and they still suffer from too much reverb and that tinny 80's production sound. I would love to hear albums like 'Show No Mercy' and 'Kill em All' re-done like Pearl Jam's 'Ten', some of my favourite songs are on those albums, but I always end up listening to live versions as the studio versions sound really dated now.

Some new albums could do with been remastered too, the trend nowadays seems to be over-amplify everything, and it ends up sounding like shit. I have volume controls on my stereo, I don't need clipping before I've turned it up louder than speaking volume.

I smell fish ???

Remasters just another excuse to get more money out of a release, the reason it sounds better is that they have layered in more guitar work and tweaked everything else , probably using session musicians . Worst example of remasters is all the early Ozzy stuff. They reworked everything with the current band to get out of paying royalty's to the original musicians. And as for remastering vinyl whats the point. In my opinion while they might sound different to the originals they add nothing, Para absolutely loves them .
