All the Real Girls
All the Real Girls is an independent film
that follows the budding relationship of
Paul and Noel through the summer in their small town.
The town is very small. One main street with only a few side streets. And everyone lives on the outskirts and pretty much everyone who works has a job at the local factory.
The Plot is a typical Boy meets Girl with a few twists. The Protagonist, Paul wrestles with the fact that he is falling for Noel, even though no one in town believes it. The Antagonist, Tip, who is Noel's older brother, finds it impossible that Paul could want his little sister for anything more than just a sexual plaything.
Noel doesn't seem to mind the drama. She talks to Paul as if all his shortcomings and misgivings are so trivial that they aren't even worth mentioning. She says "and if you feel the need to tell me about your priors.. than so be it. If that will help..."
If only real girls were like that....
The film is a slow moving rollercoaster of sexual tension, southern life, and classic love trials. The director keeps his audience hooked by using quick cuts between scenes. It almost seems like the scenes aren't changing until you realize that different characters are now reciting dialogue.
Being limited release (21 screens) It hardly grossed the money it deserved.
Rated: R -
Quality: 6.8/10
