More Pie, Please
E! Online's Anderson Jones had the word:
"I thought, If I can nail these other characters, people will see the versatility," [Seann] tells me. "I get worried that no one is going to buy me in these parts." And, somehow, in between those movies, he finished a third Pie (American Wedding), reviving Stifler, a character he has been trying to exorcise with other work. "I wanted to make sure I couldn't see any of Stifler in Monk," he says.
Scott promises that Pie 3 finishes the franchise and that they go out with a bang. The second sequel loses most of the ensemble cast of kids, focusing instead on Jason Biggs' wedding to band-camp girl Alyson Hannigan, while introducing new sets of parents.
"The lamest scene in American Pie 3 is funnier than anything in the first two," says Scott, who just took in an unauthorized screening of a rough cut. "It's awesome. I really can't watch the first two, because this one is so good. It was a great way to end that franchise. There won't be American Baby or American Divorce." But really, it's all about Stifler. We finally get to see the twisted things that make him tick. "The movie fills in all the gaps."
