Box Office Numbers Weekend of June June 20-22, 2003

No real surprise to the #1 spot however some movies dropping was a little surprising..

1) The Hulk $62,128,420 / opening
2) Finding Nemo $21,138,752 / $228,549,216 (could be bidding to overtake Matrix Reloaded as the #1 movie of the summer)
3) 2 Fast 2 Furious $11,099,835 / $102,889,130 (my faith in human exsistance has taken a hit when this movie hit $100 mil)
4) Bruce Almighty $9,806,060 / $210,542,710 (strong..very strong showing)
5) The Italian Job $7,165,943 / $67,635,452 (very impressive for a movie that was suppose to bomb worse than the US on Baghdad)
6) Rugrats Go Wild $6,942,766 / $23,800,967 (my only wonder is..Who the fuck is Nigel Strawberry?)
7) Alex and Emma $6,111,074 / opening (considered by some the best romantic comedy of the year..considered by its $6 mil box office to be a disappointment. Thats what you get for scarce advertising)
8) Hollywood Homicide $5,930,260 / $21,562,893 (on its way to the Bulletproof Monk award for the summer)
9) Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd $4,357,873 / $20,016,209 (er...that means at least 250,000 people went and saw this so far..)
10) The Matrix Reloaded $3,942,492 / $264,401,442 (damn that fire sure burns out quickly doesnt it)

Surprises...

11) From Justin to Kelly $2,715,848 / opening ( I honestly thought this would carry the momentum of American Idol and break the top 5..guess these kids arent as dumb as we think)

Biggest drops of the week...

The In-Laws from 13 to 26! $168,376 losing -75.1% from last week

Down with Love from 15 to 28! $125,607 losing -64.4% from last week

and the "This franchise is dead dont make another movie" award to Pokemon Heroes for making a grand total of $730,816 in 6 weeks

Thats it for now..see ya next week

I thought Alex and Emma received bad reviews in general...the reviews were even worse when they compared it to When Harry Met Sally, which was also directed by Reiner. Yeah, and I'm glad From Justin to Kelly bombed, I didn't think it would do quite as poor, but I'll say some pretty strange words right now: THE WORSE, THE BETTER! Here are my predictions for the final grosses:
1. The Hulk - 140 Million (It will drop like a firecracker)
2. Finding Nemo - 300 (seems like a good estimate, considering a movie with a 20 million opening can somehow manage to get past 100 mil...but I don't see this cracking anywhere further than 300)
3. 2 Fast 2 Furious - 125 Million
4. Bruce Almighty - 247 Million (seems fit for a comedy of this type)
5. The Italian Job - 87 Million
6. Rugrats Go Wild - 37 Million
7. Alex and Emma - 23 Million
8. Hollywood Homicide - 33 Million
9. Dumb and Dumberer - 26.5 Million (hey, it might be enough to start Dumber and Dumberer)
10. The Matrix Reloaded - 275 Million
11. From Justin to Kelly - 6 Million
