Predict the Box Office - 6/12/03
Junky week. We've got Dumb and Dumberer, Hollywood Homicide, and a Rugrats movie. The counts posted up to this point show Rugrats Go Wild at 2850 theaters, Dumb and Dumberer at 2800+ and Hollywood Homicide at 2700+. Now, I personally thought 2 Fast 2 Furious would bomb, but it didn't. These past weeks have all been suprising, the way America is spending money at the box office. We had X2 at 85 Million, M2 in the 90's, Bruce Almighty at 65 or so for the 3 day, Finding Nemo in the 70's, and now 2 Fast 2 Furious in the 50's. I can't imagine any of the new movies going for a 50 mil. weekend, but after all this, it seems likely. Looking at the HSX (Hollywood Stock Exchange), which gets things right often, have positioned Rugrats Go Wild, Hollywood Homicide, AND Dumb and Dumberer going past 20 Mil. Weekends. I'm not sure about the Rugrats, but...one of these movies will top this week's box office. And it sure as hell better not be Dumb and Dumberer...Here's my predictions:
#1. Finding Nemo - 25 Mil. - I seriously can't imagine any of the other ones hitting #1, and plus, these movies usually hold up pretty well and stay in the B.O. a while.
#2. Hollywood Homicide - 23 Mil. - Josh Hartnett has quite a big fanbase now and it's unusual to see a Ford flick bomb.
#3. Rugrats Go Wild - 19 Mil. - They have a bigger fan base than The Wild Thornberries, and in less theaters, they should be able to get quite an audience.
#4. 2 Fast 2 Furious - 18.5 Mil. - Most people that had an interest in it saw it when it came out last Friday, and it will drop out of theaters and onto video quicker than a pindrop.
#5. 2 Dumb 2 Dumberer - 17 Mil. - Yes, I know that's not the title, but, the movie will suck. We know it. Yet, the audience got quite a kick out of the Definitions of Dumb teasers during LOTR TTT, so I expect quite a few of them to go waste 90 Minutes with this dreck.

Rugrats Go Wild (Paramount) / 3,041
