IRC = free, normally fast bots, relatively easy search engines, good pre speed.
Usenet/Newsgroups = No queues, excellent speed, once you get the hang of .nzbs then it's relatively easy to search for things.
Cons
IRC = Disconnects. As most downloads come through as one .tar file if your download stops half way through and you don't carry it on from the same bot, you'll likely get a corrupt archive. Queues, queues and more queues.
Usenet/Newsgroups = They cost if you don't get a newsserver with your isp. Problems with incomplete posts and getting used to .pars.
i used newgroups for a while when I did, and not did i ever use the .nzb's so you really dont have to worry about those. And the .par's are actually quite simple as fuck to use....but how they work, ill never know.
also, you just need to know what a.b.xxx groups to look in for shit.
