as you might all be aware, im not the worlds biggest fan of VB. whilst its not so bad for a user, to admin it is quite simply, a major pain in the ass at times. therefore might possibly change to what i think is by far the best forum out there atm, IPB.

check it out, see how it works etc, cos i'll put it to eggs when its reached RC status or Final, as its still not stable enough yet for a board of this size (i run PDR1 atm, and it runs ok, but a few too many bugs) lots of new functions (as outlined in the skins post) and the moderation functions will let us strip the comments thread to pieces within a matter of seconds, rather than half an hour (believe!)

The thing with invision is that its a free trial. Besides the small notice on the bottom of the page, they could change their licensing system any time and deny you updates.

I'm going to download it anyway and play around with the templates to see if i can make it xhtml 1.1 strict + css valid.

Also, what are the reasons for picking invision over for instance phpBB?

phpbb makes me want to vomit. im not sure why, i just really really hate it.

and invision (and previously ikonboard, as the dev team used to work on that and left) has always been free with the option to pay. now the pay option gives you tech support and other addons, and i think they're happy with the way that system works, so i don't think its going to change any time soon.
