Cold Mountain *NTSC* - DVDRIP - Replica
Good to see the releases are coming strong lately!
This is one I've been waiting for and I was pretty excited. Unfortunately this falls into the, too much movie for a DVD-R. This heavy weight is 155 mins long, which is alot of movie to fit onto a small ol' DVD-R. Of course, nothing we can do about this until dual-layer burners, so enjoy this release, it's the best you'll get unless you buy the movie.
Video 7.5/10 - Video quality is between decent and good. Glad to see a CCE encode on this one (not sure still what to think of Replica's ProCoder release of Bad Santa... Didn't read too many good things about the encoder except it's fast). I was expecting much worse from a long, dark movie like this one, but ultimately I found it was neither good or bad.
DVD-R 10/10 - Replica did really well. At 3270 video + 448 audio + 98 commentary, you get pretty much the whole disc packed with just the movie. Pretty much the way I like it, and definitely the only way to give a movie this long any justice. As I said, as good as you'll get on a 4.38 gig disc.
This is definitely a movie that will have MUCH better quality if you buy it (since this release was heavily downsampled), plus you get the second disc of extras (if that's your cup of tea). Oh! And the DTS (not like you need it though)...
