I thought the retail DVD wasn't out yet, even in China. Was it a bootleg VCD made into a DVD, or an actual DVD? I want one!

Just curious how does the sample get an 8 and the movie get a 1 for sound. Come on a ONE. Thats just Stupid. Just my opinion, of course

From what I know there were no DVDs released in China yet. I might be wrong, but there are no places selling it from when I checked.

yes a dvdrip is avaliable - a telecine is bloody pointless, unless for some reason this is a different cut of the film, or because it has subtitles inserted into the film... (i dont know if english subs are avaliable for the asian dvdrip, so if there ARENT, then i guess this would be a valid release)...


...how does a film get 1 for sound? if this film is still in its original language, and NOT english dubbed (i hate english dubbing, btw, its so tacky, and mainly for lazy people who hate to read subs...) then it probably got 1 because some ignorant person dislikes the fact that this asian film, does not have english dialogue (how dare those asians speak in their own language!!!)

As far as I know, there is NO retail DVD released anywhere yet.

There are a number of PDVDs available, but they most likely contain either a cam or a telecine.

uh, its a telecine, unrelated to DVD.

what he talk is what i ave - dVd in chinky.

it starts off with "Entertainment house, peony pavillion " at the bottom and has chiky adverts at the tops !?, but they go away.

I think this is the reason for this release. I have the DVDRip but no decent English subs are available yet. There is one at Kloofy's site but it needs to be fixed as it's awful English.

Yes this was a good release. I just finished converting it to svcd Some of the subs are hard to see when the background is light, but a fine movie.

This movies is one of the rawest ones i have seen this year.

I'd say video is about a 8.5(10 being true dvd quality), audio about a 9, and the movie about a 9.5 maybe even 9.6

I just converted it to dvd but lost the sound somewhere in the mix. I wish this would have been released in the norm format (my norm at least). I'm working on Hidden Heroes now(Where's the subs!?) and might even give some other asian flix a shot.

Yeah I've just snagged that as well, I would recommend anyone who wants to watch this film to get the BiEN release, as its far better than this TC.

As far as the movies concerned, it isn't as good as Yimao's previous film, and the plot is a bit shite in places, but its kept going by the uber cinematography throughout.
