Centropy and standalones..any solution ?

Hi
I have 2 standalones
An old wharfdale 750s and a Yello dvd800
When the Wharfy play CTP releases it will skip and jump throughout the movie and the Yello system loses sound sync.
Anyone know why this only happens with Centropy releases (I know Im not the only 1 with this issue) ?
They are obviously using something different to encode to VCD standard, Ive tried re-encoding but didnt seem to make much difference, Im gonna try converting to divx then back to see if that helps.
Any pointers would be appreciated
TIA !!

Centropy releases main flaw is that they're designed as xvcd, not the standard PAL/NTSC formats and a lot of players have a problem playing them... If you were to watch it on your computer you would experience Centropy's quality without the sync`ing issues, and the skipping.

Centropy releases play fine on my standalone, my suggestion would be to get a decent player.

Well I have a Hitachi DV-P415U, it can play everything from vcd to svcd to xvcd. It can ffw and rrw up to 128x and it has alot of other cool shit like an MP3 decoder. My only complaint is that some cdrw play a bit choppy but cdr's play beautifully. it cost me around 300 canadian.

APEX seem to be able to play Centropy releases fine. My 500 never seems to have problems and my friends 1500 doesn't either. And on VCDHelp the Apex AD-1500 has very good ratings and can play virtually everything. So if your looking for a new player I'd say try APEX.

My recommendation to play ctp's Pal encodes is to buy a Apex..Can get it at any local Future Shop or watever.. About 150$..well worth it . Can play NTsc, Pals, SVcd's, anything...Plus its cheap...Look into the dvd player before you spend your money on it...

try burning at 4 speed or less, i know that is a pain but i have heard others say this corrected some of the problems they had turn it down to 2x and see if the same problem exist, i can not promise anything because i never had the problem but others have told me that solved it for them.

yes, thats correct, my pimp gave me money for a cheap dvd player. how much does ctp give you for licking their nads? oh yeh, groupies dont get paid. when you move up, let me know, ill get you a job with my pimp since you're a ctp groupie, i'm sure he'll pay you your fare wage in blank cds so you can burn all the ctp releases you want.

My Apex AD-500 has never had any problems with any centropy releases. Don't know what urs is doing, but I've never heard of Apex problems with centropy.

I know some of the cheapo players do well at handling various formats, but to be honest its better to pay some extra for a Pioneer, My Pioneer DV444 has never tripped up yet on any mpeg i have burned as vcd/svcd/x(s)vcd also it has beautiful picture quality. And i doubt the buttons will fall off after a year. I have heard Yamaha are also very good players.
